What is Hyperion?#

Hyperion is a comprehensive, accurate, and timely monitoring tool for drilling rigs and frac crews. Hyperion provides access to data that is updated in a near real-time 3-day window (compared to the 15-day industry average).

The Hyperion client is written in Python and gives the user access to information on:

  • Individual wells that are being completed and their locations

  • Where frac crews are deployed at the well pad level

  • Who contracted the frac crew

  • Easily trackable E&P company activity

The Hyperion API#

The Hyperion API provides information on well pads in the United States. The Hyperion database includes information on all well pads prepared for natural gas extraction. This includes information on when they are running, which ones have drilling rigs, which ones are fracking, the operator and E&P company that owns the well pad, and the location of these operations based on the WGS 84/EPSG:4326 coordinate system.

The Hyperion API is open-source and written in Python. The Hyperion client is available for download on GitHub.
